U.S. Senator Steve Daines announced that President Trump has signed the “BABES Enhancement Act” into law. The legislation is intended to make it easier for parents traveling with breast milk and formula, addressing concerns for families both in Montana and nationwide.
“I’m thrilled to see our bipartisan BABES Enhancement Act officially signed into law by President Trump. Being a mom is already a tough job, and this new law will make it easier for mothers to safely transport breast milk and formula while traveling. This is a big win for families, and I’m proud to see it signed into law.” said Daines.
The bipartisan measure requires the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to clarify and regularly update its guidance on how breast milk, baby formula, and related breastfeeding products are handled at security checkpoints. The TSA will consult with leading maternal health organizations as part of this process. The aim is to reduce risks of mishandling these items, which can lead to contamination.
Senator Daines introduced the bill in January 2025 along with Senators Tammy Duckworth, Ted Cruz, and Mazie Hirono.
