Senator Steve Daines has recently highlighted several legislative developments and federal approvals that impact Montana, according to a series of posts on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.
On September 3, 2025, Daines announced the U.S. Department of Transportation’s approval of SkyWest Airlines’ plan to charter flights serving small and rural communities in Montana. He wrote, “Big news- @USDOT approved SkyWest’s plan to charter flights to small & rural communities. Many towns in MT rely on air service to stay connected, but Biden’s admin stonewalled this order for years. This has been a top priority of mine- thanks @SecDuffy for getting it done.”
The following day, September 4, 2025, Daines commended Representative Troy Downing for advancing an energy-related resolution in the House. In his post, he stated, “Great work getting this through the House, @RepTroyDowning! Looking forward to our resolution passing in the Senate, so we can protect the future of Made-In-MT energy.”
Later that same day, Daines referenced agricultural policy advancements tied to what he called “The One Big Beautiful Bill.” He posted, “The One Big Beautiful Bill includes massive wins for MT farmers, including investment in the farm safety net & crop insurance. Glad to join KYYA Radio to talk about the benefits our farmers will see as a result.”
SkyWest Airlines is a regional carrier that operates flights connecting smaller communities with larger hubs across the United States. Access to reliable air service is often considered vital for rural areas like many found in Montana because it supports economic activity and provides residents with critical transportation links.
Legislative efforts supporting local energy production have been ongoing topics within Montana’s congressional delegation. The state has significant resources in both traditional and renewable energy sectors.
Federal legislation affecting agriculture is also closely watched by stakeholders throughout Montana. Farm bills and related measures typically include provisions for crop insurance and safety nets designed to stabilize farm income during periods of low commodity prices or adverse weather conditions.
