The Bureau of Land Management regularly conducts lease sales for oil and gas development as part of federal land management policies. These sales can have significant economic impacts for states like Montana and North Dakota.
In a third post later that day, Daines addressed concerns about possible disruptions to federal government operations. He stated, “A Schumer Shutdown will hurt MT. @SenateGOP is fighting to keep the government open- which is what the American ppl want.” (September 16, 2025). Potential government shutdowns can result from legislative disagreements over budget appropriations and often affect public services at both state and national levels.
