Senator Steve Daines shared updates on international relations, energy policy, and federal government funding in a series of posts on September 16, 2025.
In his first post of the day, Daines wrote about his recent visit to Jerusalem. He stated, “It was an honor to meet with PM @netanyahu yesterday in Jerusalem & reinforce the message that America stands with Israel.” (September 16, 2025).
Later that afternoon, Daines highlighted developments regarding domestic energy production. He noted, “This week, @BLMNational secured over $38 million in an oil and gas lease sale, including 23 parcels in Montana and North Dakota. This was a key priority of mine in the Big Beautiful Bill- thank you @POTUS and @SecretaryBurgum!” (September 16, 2025). The Bureau of Land Management regularly conducts lease sales for oil and gas development as part of federal land management policies. These sales can have significant economic impacts for states like Montana and North Dakota.
In a third post later that day, Daines addressed concerns about possible disruptions to federal government operations. He stated, “A Schumer Shutdown will hurt MT. @SenateGOP is fighting to keep the government open- which is what the American ppl want.” (September 16, 2025). Potential government shutdowns can result from legislative disagreements over budget appropriations and often affect public services at both state and national levels.
Daines represents Montana in the U.S. Senate. His comments reflect ongoing discussions about U.S.-Israel relations, energy resource management on public lands, and congressional negotiations over federal funding.
