Senator Steve Daines, who represents Montana in the U.S. Senate, marked several key events and priorities for his state in a series of posts on February 9, 2026.

In one post celebrating a new state observance, Daines wrote: “Proud to celebrate the inaugural Montana Mining Day today! Hard rock mining supports more than 18,000 jobs across our state and provides critical materials for national and economic security.” (posted on February 9, 2026).

Daines is a fifth-generation Montanan who grew up in Bozeman and attended public schools there. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Montana State University. Through his role as senator, Daines engages in public service by providing constituent assistance and participating in Senate committee work.
