Montana State University, based on the quality of its academic and research programs, as well as the success of its faculty, has been ranked in the top ten of public universities by an online higher education magazine.
The College Gazette selected MSU for its academic prowess. which included myriad achievements inside and outside the classroom.
The university has been successful in developing Rhodes Scholars and Truman Scholars, plus a significant amount of Goldwater Scholars (74), according to the Gazette's review of MSU, which also alluded to the university's ability to construct new buildings on campus.
A surge in enrollment also led to MSU cracking the top ten, with a fall enrollment of more than 16,000 students. Graduation and retention rates are also featured as high points for the school. With $138.8 million available for research and contract expenditures, acquired from federal, state and private resources, MSU was able spend more than nine percent toward research and contract expenditures from last year.
