As some golf courses in Montana have closed to slow the spread of coronavirus, golf courses in the Billings area have taken precautions so they can stay open.
The Billings Gazette reports that courses have implemented daily cleaning routines that involve wiping down frequently touched surfaces with disinfectants.
Other preventative measures that have been taken include limiting groups to four people, encouraging players to drive separate carts, raising cups to prevent golfers from reaching into the cups to retrieve their balls, removing on-course items such as trash cans and bunker rakes, spacing driving range mats at least six feet apart, closing clubhouses, and eliminating in-house dining. Individuals are also advised to walk six feet apart from one another as they are walking the course.
“Obviously on golf courses, there’s plenty of room to practice good social distancing,” Barbara Schneeman, the vice president of communications and public affairs at RiverStone Health, told the Billings Gazette.
