Residents who lapsed on their water bills in April or May have been given an extension from the Billings Public Works. Now, they have until July 8 to pay, Billings Gazette reported.
Gov. Steve Bullock initially banned any utilities to be shut off for lack of payment through May 25. As of June 8, more than 814 out of 40,000 locals couldn’t pay their water bills (compared to the roughly 30 people this time last year).
While this is the highest number deputy director of Billings Public Works Jennifer Duray has experienced, she said she’s hopeful things will improve. She told the Gazette: “My guess is, we’re gonna get that number down…We still make payment arrangements with people.”
While Billings citizens can pay their bills digitally, over the phone or in person, payment arrangements can be made by calling 657-8315.
Those who have experienced a major financial setback or still quarantining can also ask for an extension.
