Billings Mayor Bill Cole recently commended Sen. Steve Daines for securing $11 million in federal funding to complete the Northwest Billings Connector and Marathon Loop.
“The city can now get to work on building the iconic Skyline Trail on the Rimrocks overlooking our beautiful valley,” Cole said in a post on Daines’ website. “The Inner Belt Loop will connect Billings Heights and West Billings to improve safety and reduce traffic congestion by Metra. None of this would have happened without the diehard support of Sen. Daines, the congressional delegation and our community partners.”
The Northwest Billings Connector and Marathon Loop project aims to enhance the city’s transportation system by establishing around 25 miles of continuous parkways, according to the post. Residential and employment areas close to Billings International Airport are also expected to become more easily accessible.
“This BUILD grant funding will help modernize infrastructure in Billings, and is a big win for the community and jobs,” Daines said in the post. “I’m glad to have secured these funds and I look forward to seeing these projects get started.”
