The City of Billings will have five City Council seats up for grabs in the 2023 municipal election.
The City has two representatives for each ward, and as of June 1, each ward has a attracted two candidates.
In City Council Ward 1, incumbent Kendra Shaw has applied for re-election, and the seat has also grabbed the attention of Michael Mayott.
Voters in City Council Ward 2 will need to decide if they will re-elect current council member Roy Neese, or elect Dustin Hanson into office.
In Ward 3, incumbent Danny Choriki is running against Bill Kennedy.
City Council Ward 4 has attracted two new-comers, Mary Hernandez, and Scott Aspenlieder, as current council member Pam Purinton has decided not to run for re-election.
And in Ward 5, incumbent Mike Boyett has decided to run for re-election and will campaign against Beau Mulvaney.
On Thursday, the Billings Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual candiate school for anyone who has filed for election, or is interested in possibly running for one of five seats.
Topics included campaign finance, campaign 101, digital campaigning, media relations with PIO Victoria Hill, council orientation with City Administrator Chris Kukulski, and a forum with council members Jennifer Owen and Tom Rupsis.
