Sergeant Jeff Stovall of the Billings Police Department was honored by our local Scheels store and American Heroes Outdoors last week.

Scheels nominated Sgt. Stovall for the Hometown Hero Award.

This award is presented across the nation to first responders or military members who continue to serve their communities above and beyond their career.

Sgt. Stovall has been with the Billings Police Department since 2014 and is currently a patrol Sergeant on the dayshift team.

He is the department's field training coordinator and has been working diligently over the last year to create a peer-to-peer mentoring program within the PD to support mental health for first responders.

On top of this, Sgt. Stovall leads the Shop with a Cop program, which, with the help of community partners, has grown so large that he now holds a back-to-school event in addition to the holiday event each year.

We are proud of Sgt. Stovall's accomplishments and his dedication to this community.

Thank you to Scheels and American Heroes Outdoors for the opportunity to recognize Sgt. Stovall.
