Census Bureau: 4.9% of people in Big Horn County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 13,198 citizens living in Big Horn County in 2021, 95.1% said they were only one race, while 4.9% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Big Horn County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was American Indian or Alaska Native, comprising 66.4% or 8,761 individuals. Following them, white accounted for 28.3% and totaled 3,737 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Big Horn County is 0.4% higher than the state average, which stands at 4.5%.
