The Billings community is set to benefit from improved air service accessibility with a recent sponsorship from the Montana Department of Commerce. The Department has committed $50,000 to support the Billings Air Service Committee in meeting the local match goal for the Small Community Air Service Development Grant.

"Providing additional commercial flight access to Billings is essential to every rural and eastern Montana community," emphasized Paul Green, Director of the Montana Department of Commerce. Green highlighted the economic benefits of increased flights to Billings, stating, "More flights to Billings opens Montana’s economy up for visitors and future businesses that will create good paying jobs for Montanans."

The grant is expected to facilitate non-stop daily air service between Billings and either Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) or San Francisco International Airport (SFO). This strategic addition aims to address the growing demand for air travel to and from these key markets, particularly from tourists looking to explore the scenic beauty of Montana.

Jeff Roach, Director of Aviation and Transit, expressed the committee's excitement about the sponsorship, noting, "This grant represents a major stride towards our goal of improving air connectivity for our community." The Billings Air Service Committee, which includes representatives from Visit Billings, the Billings Chamber of Commerce, Big Sky Economic Development, the City of Billings, and other community leaders, is dedicated to enhancing air service to the Billings and southeast Montana region.

The introduction of new air services is expected to boost tourism and drive economic development in the region. By improving access to Billings and Southeast Montana, local businesses, hospitality services, and cultural attractions are likely to experience a positive economic impact.

In conclusion, the sponsorship from the Montana Department of Commerce marks a significant step towards enhancing air connectivity for the Billings community, ultimately paving the way for increased economic opportunities and tourism growth in the region.
