2022: 44 coaches at institutions in Yellowstone County earned on average $33,355

Yellowstone County’s 44 coaches earned an average salary of $33,355 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the fourth lowest average salary per county earned by coaches at Montana post-secondary schools during 2022.

Yellowstone County is home to two post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Rocky Mountain College stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $34,571.

Male coaches of men's teams received $35,968 on average in Yellowstone County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $31,577.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
