Yellowstone National Park: Alternating License Plate System

Yellowstone National Park: Alternating License Plate System
0Comments

While parts of Yellowstone remain closed due to damage caused by the recent record-breaking flood event, we are temporarily limiting public park entry to balance protection of resources, visitor access, and economic interest of gateway communities. If you are planning a visit this summer, make sure you know about our Alternating License Plate System!

Here’s the short version – to gain entry into Yellowstone, you will need to check your license plate number:

– If the last numerical digit on your license plate is an ODD number or contains ALL LETTERS, you will be eligible to enter the park on ODD calendar days.

– If the last numerical digit on your license plate is an EVEN number, you will be eligible to enter the park on EVEN calendar days.

There are a few exceptions to this general rule, so scroll through our post and visit go.nps.gov/YELLflood for even more information and FAQ’s about the ALPS.

We will continue to provide updates as they become available. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we navigate this unprecedented event together!
