As several neighboring cities close their public transportation systems in light of the nationwide mandate to quarantine, the Billings bus system is still up and running, according to the Billings Gazette.
In the wake of the coronavirus spread, Rusty Logan, manager of Billings Metropolitan Transit, said the Billings city buses are dedicated to being a reliable means of transportation for residents.
“There are a number of people who depend on us every day,” Logan said to the Gazette.
Whether it’s taking someone to a quick trip to the store or to dialysis, the bus system won’t be shutting down anytime soon, he said.
“It’s very important to us right now to keep that service on the street,” he said
Still, there’s a restriction that passengers have to stay six feet apart, to continue practicing social distancing.
Drivers will be able to clean the bus as they’re provided with cleaning supplies.
“We’re going to keep services out there as long as we can. We’re in no way considering pulling services off the street,” Logan said.
