The 855-acre Billings PCE Groundwater State Superfund Site has been added to the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Superfund National Priorities List to ensure that the area just southeast of downtown Billings receives top consideration for clean-up funding, Montana state Sen. Steve Daines (R-Great Falls) said in a press release posted on his website.
“I am pleased to hear that another Montana Superfund site will be prioritized for clean-up by the EPA,” Daines said in the release. “This decision is great news for folks in Billings and will ensure this site receives the resources and attention needed to protect the health of communities and restore this property for homes and businesses in Billings. I will continue working with the administration to ensure Montana Superfund sites receive the attention and resources needed for comprehensive clean-up.”
Daines has been working to clean up the Superfund sites in Montana since the fall of 2018 when he discussed cleaning the Silver Bow Creek/Butte Area and the Anaconda Smelter Co. Superfund with EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler.
