The City of Billings has announced plans to host public meetings regarding upcoming changes to the stormwater program, inviting residents to engage in meaningful discussions about the potential impact on their utility bills.
The city's comprehensive stormwater system improvement plan includes tackling deferred maintenance, promoting responsible development, and improving the water quality of stormwater going to the Yellowstone River. Additionally, there are plans to shift the current stormwater fee from property tax statements to monthly utility bills.
These enhancements aim to improve resiliency, reduce long-term infrastructure costs, and manage risks during heavy rain events while safeguarding against property damage.
Two meetings have been scheduled for Tuesday, May 28th from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM and Wednesday, May 29th from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Both will take place at the Billings Public Library in the Community Room.
City officials acknowledge that adapting to these changes may raise questions among residents. To address this, dedicated staff will be available at both meetings to provide insights and address any concerns. The city looks forward to engaging with its residents as they work together towards building a better stormwater system.
