Matt Rosendale, a U.S. Congressman representing Montana's 2nd district since 2021, has expressed concerns over the legislative process surrounding the Dole Act and its implications for veterans. In a series of tweets dated November 19, 2024, Rosendale criticized the handling of the bill by the VA Committee.
In his first tweet, Rosendale stated that "The VA Committee ignored regular order with the Dole Act which, by uniparty design, prohibited scrutiny on the final product. That decision spearheaded a bad process for this bill which resulted in an unacceptable final product for veterans."
Continuing his critique in another tweet on the same day, he highlighted issues related to Oracle Cerner's EHR System: "Moreover, this bill ignored years of bipartisan work focused on requiring Oracle Cerner to fix its EHR System, that has resulted in veteran deaths, before it could be expanded to new VA Medical Centers and the company can continue to collect on its multibillion-dollar contract."
Additionally, Rosendale pointed out a specific section of the Dole Act regarding benefits distribution: "Second, the Dole Act includes section 303, which codifies the current illegal practice of the VA using taxpayer funds to pay benefits to same-sex spouses and cohabitating individuals who never served."
