RiverStone Health has announced a partnership with Gainan’s Heights Flowers and Garden to provide free lead soil testing at their Heights location on April 27. The event will take place from 9 a.m. till noon, offering an opportunity for the community to ensure the safety of their yard and garden soil.
The collaboration between RiverStone Health and Gainan’s Heights Flowers and Garden aims to address the concerns surrounding lead poisoning. As highlighted by RiverStone Health, lead poisoning poses a significant threat to children's health and development, making it a concern for everyone.
Acknowledging the lack of extensive lead testing in Yellowstone County, the organizers emphasize the importance of understanding the potential risks associated with lead in soil. To mitigate these risks, individuals are encouraged to take advantage of the free testing opportunity provided at the upcoming event.
In addition to conducting soil tests, the staff from RiverStone Health and the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services will be available to answer questions related to lead poisoning prevention. Attendees will also receive valuable information on safeguarding themselves and their families from potential lead exposure.
To participate in the lead soil testing, community members are advised to bring up to five bags of soil in separate clean, clear quart-sized plastic bags. Ensuring that the bags are at least half full of dry soil and free of debris and plant material is essential to facilitate the testing process.
